Earth Hour

At 8:30 PM on Saturday 26th March 2011, lights will switch off around the globe for Earth Hour and people will commit to actions that go beyond the hour. Take 60 minutes to turn off the light and unplug your devices. Light some candles or dig out the flashlight, do something without using power. Read a book, make music, play a board game, tell ghost stories, take a walk, have a nap… just join the movement! You can even show your participation on twitter (learn how here). When the World Goes Quiet

Occasionally, I get this feeling, like the world has gone quiet. In reality, things aren’t so quiet. So many things make so much noise: pollution, oppression, war… and lovelier things like music, laughter, love. But sometimes, there’s a photo, or a video, or a song (sometimes you’re lucky enough to experience it firsthand, captured only in your memory) …. a moment when the world goes quiet. This is a collection of images that (hopefully) evoke that feeling.
